Pickin.tv got started when some friends wanted to show their video on the web. It seemed easy enough to do. Make a video and upload it. It turned out not to be quite that easy. One of the challenges with video is to compress it. There are many forms of compression. The newest is called H.264. Although we do link to videos compressed by other means, Pickin.tv likes the quality provided by H.264. Pickin.tv would like to become a showcase for various forms of video and for undiscovered pickers. We plan to attend events and shoot more video. Please SEND US EMAIL if you know of some events we have not listed, or of pickers we have not mentioned. Videos can show visuals other than the picker(s) as long as the audio track has some pickin. The clip below is from Bicycling Through History. Their objective is to show American History from the perspective of a Casual Cyclist. They do it by taking video while riding some of the most popular trails in America and then explaining the background of the trails. In this particular case, they rode the Virginia Creeper trail near Damascus, Virginia and the music chosen was by Wayne Henderson, who just so happens to live in the same area. The music reflects not only the history, but also the local style of pickin'.
